Abstract:
This dataset displays the approximate boundaries of the Pontchartrain Levee District and Metropolitan Council of Greater Baton Rouge Levee District within East Baton Rouge Parish. The Pontchartrain Levee District is created by state statute and has responsibility for the Mississippi River levee south of downtown Baton Rouge. The City-Parish has the responsibility of for the Mississippi River levee in the downtown area. The Department of Information Services is responsible for the maintenance and update of this layer.
Purpose: To display flood protection districts in East Baton Rouge Parish for emergency management and taxation purposes.
Supplemental Information: The extents are the Parish of East Baton Rouge, LA
