METROPOLITAN COUNCILMEMBER RONNIE EDWARDS ELECTED TO NATIONAL CAUCUS AND CENTER ON BLACK AGED BOARD

Metropolitan Councilwoman Ronnie Edwards was notified on June 14, 2012 of her selection to serve on the Board of Directors of NCBA Housing Management Corporation for a three year term.

The National Caucus and Center on Black Aged (NCBA) was founded in 1971. As of 1987, the Caucus had 48 chapters. It is currently the largest nonprofit minority organization headquartered in the nation's capital. NCBA's focus is fourfold: 1) advocacy on a wide range of issues affecting the lives of older black Americans; 2) program development to further the short-and long-term interests of the black elderly in education and training, research, health and wellness promotion, employment, information development and dissemination, and organization outreach; 3) housing sponsorship, development, and management for lower-income and disabled seniors; and 4) field development to strengthen and broaden existing national and community-based organizations that assist the black elderly.

"NCBA celebrates over 42 years of service on behalf of seniors in the areas of employment, health and wellness and affordable housing. It is a great privilege to begin my board service with so many concerned about the value of leveraging resources, information and experience across a wide variety of issues important to policy makers, legislators and service organizations for the aging,” says Metropolitan Councilwoman Ronnie Edwards.
