BATON ROUGE -- Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and officials from the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP) are urging residents to stay vigilant of current conditions due to tornado warnings and monitor the situation closely.

The National Weather Service has issued an extended tornado warning for Easts Baton Rouge and West Baton Rouge parishes until 10:45 a.m. and we can expect this type of pattern throughout the day.

“We’re monitoring the weather closely and we’re asking residents to do the same,” Mayor Broome said. “If you don’t have to get on the road, stay indoors.”

MOHSEP officials are monitoring the weather stations and keeping in touch with local public safety officials to stay abreast of any changes.
