Spread the Word – ‘Read Where You Are’ Day of Action Today

With the summer coming to an end and the beginning of the school year quickly approaching, it’s time to “Read Where You Are.”

“Read Where You Are” is a digital day of action in support of the President’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative (see https://www.whitehouse.gov/my-brothers-keeper) to raise awareness and draw attention to the importance of summer reading and learning.

Research shows that young people who do not read over the summer fall behind their peers. This is especially true for children from low-income communities. There is a simple solution – reading! Reading is powerful and helps students stay sharp and ready to learn.

Join My Brother’s Keeper - Baton Rouge (MBK-BR) during “Read Where Are Day” to read with a child to help encourage literacy and to ensure all kids read on grade level by 3rd grade.

Get involved and be a part of our summer reading day of action! Share a photo of yourself reading your favorite book or reading to a child and use the hash tag #readwhereyouare ‪#‎mbkbr and MBK-BR will repost throughout the day. Let's read.
