BATON ROUGE – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and officials from the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP) urges residents to take precaution due to the anticipated severe weather threat which is expected today through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, East Baton Rouge Parish is under an enhanced risk of severe weather until 7 a.m. Monday including damaging winds, tornadoes, and 3 to 6 inches of rainfall and potential flooding.

“We’re monitoring the weather closely and asking residents to do the same,” Mayor Broome said. “Please be careful when traveling this afternoon and evening.”

She also recommended that residents check on neighbors and friends; make sure flashlights and weather radios are in working condition and continue to monitor weather forecasts throughout the day.

MOHSEP officials along with other emergency personnel will continue to communicate with the National Weather Service to stay abreast of any changes.
