Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service

WHAT:
The mayor-president will participate in the fifth-annual Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service on Tuesday, April 4. The initiative is being led by the National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, Cities of Service and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

According to the CNCS website, "AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs have a positive and lasting impact — making our cities and counties better places to live."

WHEN and WHERE:

9:30 a.m. — 10:30 a.m.
New Horizon Head Start
1111 N. 28th Street
Foster Grandparent Program
Mayor will read to children at the Head Start Center and thank the foster grandparents for their service.

10:45 — 11:45 a.m.
Pace Building
7436 Bishop Ott Drive
Senior Companion Program; RSVP Program; AmeriCorps State;
NCCC and Social Innovation Fund

Noon —1 p.m.
Baton Rouge General Hospital Mid City
AmeriCorps VISTA Program Leaders
Mayor will meet with new VISTA members and hear about new grants and projects. This will be a working lunch meeting.
