BRPD Chief Search Committee to Convene on Thursday
BATON ROUGE, La. — The committee organized by Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome to recommend finalists for the position of the Baton Rouge Police Department chief will hold its first organizational meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. The public meeting will be held in the Metro Council Chambers in City Hall. The committee consists of Julie Baxter, Jan Bernard, Jennifer Carwile, Don Cazayoux, Councilman LaMont Cole, Pastor Errol Domingue, Pastor Tommie Gipson, Walt Green, Cordell Haymon, Pat LeDuff, Rep. Ted James, Ernest Johnson, Melissa Thompson, and Councilwoman Tara Wicker.
“The selection of our new chief of police is of great importance to the men and women in blue, and to the citizens who must engage with them for successful policing,” Mayor-President Broome said.
Candidates for BRPD chief are Shawn L. Caldwell, Myron K. Daniels, Sharon W. Douglas, Richard W. Harrell, Darryl W. Honore, Jeremy A. Kent, Mark A. Kraus, Robert McGarner, Paul J. Murphy, Ronald W. Stevens, and Samuel L. Wyatt.
