MAYOR-PRESIDENT TO HOST WORKSHOP ON NON-PROFIT AND FAITH-BASED INITIATIVES

Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden will host a Non-Profit and Faith-Based Initiatives Workshop with a team of Directors of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Wednesday, March 23rd from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the River Center.

HUD officials will meet with local leaders of faith-based and non-profit organizations to share information on program funding and other opportunities available through HUD.

This workshop is the second such event to come out of the Mayor’s meetings in Washington, D.C. with HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson. On March 2nd, HUD officials met with local developers and business and community leaders to discuss economic development partnerships available to commercial developers through HUD.

Tomorrow’s presenters include Gregory Hamilton, Director of Community Planning & Development Division; Ann Kizzer, Director of Multi-Family Housing Division; Art Wells, Chief of Multifamily Production Branch; and George Smith, Senior Public Housing Revitalization Specialist.
