The DDD board of directors oversees a 10 mill property tax for downtown development. Metropolitan Council must concur in Mayor-President's appointments. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month @ 8 a.m.Reference
La. R.S. 33:2740.8Resolution 23435, adopted January 9, 1985; and Ordinance 7971, adopted September 11, 1985. Ordinance 7971. Mayoral appointments must be approved by Council. The law was amended at the last legislative session 2026 (a) One member of the board shall be appointed at-large by the mayor-president, with the approval of the metro council. (b) One member of the board shall be appointed by the mayor-president, with the approval of the metro council, from a list of four nominees submitted by the governing board of the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership. (c) One member shall be appointed by the mayor-president, with the approval of the metro council, and who shall be a resident of Spanish Town. (d) One member shall be appointed by the mayor-president, with the approval of the metro council, and who shall be a resident of Beauregard Town. (e) Three members shall be appointed by the mayor-president, with the approval of the metro council, who shall be property owners or lessees of property located within the boundaries of the district. At least one member shall be a property owner and at least one member shall be a lessee. the Greater Baton Rouge Partnership is now the name the BRAC goes by. Also, there is no longer a Riverside Association, so that seat moved to being a property owner or lessee.
