GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Manager, performs work at the beginning training level monitoring the computerized control operations of sewage pumping, storage, and treatment facilities, as well as storm water pumping stations. Assists manager and operators to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Employees of this class may be required to work shift work, overtime, and be on twenty-four hour call. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Assists with monitoring the daily operation of sewage treatment influent pumping and storage facilities, collection system storage facilities, sewage and storm water pumping stations, and other related facilities to minimize sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs). Receives training from SCADA Operators on all aspects of the SCADA system to ensure compliance through regular monitoring with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), the Clean Water Act (CWA), and relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Observes weather forecasts to assist the SCADA Manger with implementation of control strategies to minimize SSOs. Communicates equipment issues and alarms from the SCADA system to SCADA Operators/Manager. Assists with preparing and maintaining daily, monthly, and annual reports as required. Attends training schools as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to learn the principles and practices of sewage pumping, storage, and treatment facilities, as well as storm water pumping stations. Ability to learn the SCADA system. Ability to learn the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in sewage collection and treatment operations. Ability to learn applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare clear and concise records, reports, correspondence, and other materials. Ability to receive training from a technical supervisor. Ability to work after scheduled hours and during emergency situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and one year of experience in a sewage pumping and treatment facility environment or information technology (includes SCADA system or other comparable computerized monitoring system).

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Employees of this classification must obtain a Class I Wastewater Collection or Class I Wastewater Treatment Certificate issued by the Louisiana State Department of Health within one calendar year from the initial employment or employee will be terminated. Obtaining a Class I certificate is a requirement of employment; therefore the probationary period will end after the employee has completed six (6) months of employment and received the required Class I certificate. Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver's license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
