GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Executive Director, this employee is responsible for special Downtown Development District (DDD) marketing, design, and social media initiatives. Duties involve working in partnership with the public and private sectors, collecting marketing data, developing public relations and marketing materials, creating graphic materials depicting projects and programs, developing communications materials, assisting with the coordination of marketing for downtown events, and furthering the vision outlined in various downtown master plan documents. Work also involves the use of independent judgment and is reviewed through conferences for desired results. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Develops communications and marketing materials to ensure the DDD and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong and positive image to relevant stakeholders. Aides in the collection, analysis, and presentation of relevant downtown area marketing data for market growth, annual reports, and special packages. Maintains informational and marketing materials associated with downtown activities and initiatives. Builds and establishes partnerships and relationships with downtown stakeholders. Develops and coordinates communications, marketing, and public relations for the DDD in collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups, which includes the use of marketing materials and the development and maintenance of web content and collateral materials; prepares press releases, presentations, and social media posts; performs other related duties. Maintains website aesthetics, content design, and ongoing updates; plans, writes, and builds e-newsletters and social media content. Develops and/or directs photography and video content to align with the creative direction of the DDD. Develops, coordinates, and facilitates marketing initiatives for the downtown area in collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups. Provides organizational and administrative support to the DDD.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Downtown Development Districts, marketing, and graphic design. Skill in developing graphics such as maps, schedules, layouts, setup plans, and other visual aids. Skill and proficiency in the use of Windows and Macintosh operating systems and applications. Skill and proficiency in the use of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe programs, including Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Skill in the operation of modern office equipment. Ability to think critically and manage multiple projects and initiatives. Ability to build community relations and intergovernmental collaborative programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively, including through writing, telephone interactions, graphic materials, social media posts, public speaking, and presentations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Ability to work independently. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications, or a related field.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS

Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver's license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
