GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the close supervision of the Spray Systems Supervisor, performs specialized skilled work in servicing and maintaining mosquito control spray systems equipment for the East Baton Rouge Parish Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control District. Work involves calibrating spray systems equipment for proper flow, maintaining and repairing trucks and spray systems equipment, and performing general maintenance on all ground and aerial equipment that may include highly specialized ultra-low volume (ULV) equipment. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Mixes chemicals for use in the spray truck used for the control of mosquitoes. Repairs and maintains ultra-low volume (ULV) spray equipment. Performs routine maintenance and minor mechanical repairs on all mosquito control equipment and vehicles. Occasionally sprays chemicals for the control of insects, diseases, and other pests. Installs and monitors electronic tachography equipment, charts and various meters and gauges on spray equipment. Assists in the fabrication of mosquito control equipment. Helps to train subordinate employees in the usage, repair and maintenance of mosquito control equipment and preparation of chemicals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the servicing and repair of light automotive equipment and small engines and spray systems equipment. Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved in the work and the proper safety precautions. Ability to use mechanical tools and repair parts to maintain all mosquito control equipment. Ability to service various spray systems used in aerial and ground mosquito control. Ability to handle chemicals properly as required by label instructions. Physical strength and agility to perform strenuous work under varying weather conditions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to read and write, and two years of experience in the servicing and repair of equipment.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
