GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the close supervision of a departmental supervisor, performs entry level, combining routine clerical and technical, sub-professional engineering work. Work may involve assisting with the work of a survey crew; maintaining accurate and current files and records of permits, house numbers, maps, and related materials. Work is assigned orally or in writing, and is reviewed daily through personal observation. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
May assist a survey crew; records data; files completed field notes; assists in locating property and lot lines; assists in locating permanent markers. Maintains records specific to area of assignment; researches files; responds to inquiries whether in person or by telephone. Delivers plans, specifications, deposits, receipts, and related materials; runs errands for area of assignment. Operates and maintains equipment necessary to task assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of algebra, plane geometry, or trigonometry. Skill in the operation of modern office equipment such as, the telephone, typewriter, calculator, copier, computer terminal and related peripherals. Skill in the safe operation of a light motor vehicle. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to physically perform the task assigned. Ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy at all times. Ability to make engineering computations accurately. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by courses in algebra, geometry or drafting.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
