GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Chief Deputy Constable, performs highly responsible work in assisting in the efficient functioning of the City Constable's office. Work involves execution of all orders issued by the City Court; security of the courtroom, judges, related personnel, prisoners, and general public; continuity of function of the divisions; training of personnel. Work also involves the supervision of clerical support staff. Work requires the use of independent judgment within established guidelines and is reviewed through personal conferences and for results obtained. Performs other work as requested.
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Assists in directing the activities of employees in the service of Civil and Criminal process, the execution of various court orders such as seizures, evictions, and bench warrants.
Conducts training of sworn personnel in areas of firearms, civil process service, criminal process service.
Analyzes courtroom security, building security, makes recommendations.
Responds to inquiries whether in person, by telephone, or by written correspondence from attorneys, related interested parties, and the public.
Conducts constables' sales of confiscated property; collects monies; prepares and submits reports.
Serves as liaison with other agencies; conducts research; prepares reports; attends and represents the City Constable's office at functions designated by the City Constable whenever necessary.
Conducts new hires interviews.

Knowledge of state and local civil and criminal codes.
Knowledge of practices, principles, and procedures of civil process service.
Knowledge of practices, principles, and procedures of criminal process service.
Knowledge of city streets, geography, topography, neighborhoods.
Knowledge of first aid.
Knowledge of governmental budget process.
Knowledge of practices, procedures, and principles of government record keeping.
Knowledge of modern supervisory methods and techniques.
Skill in the use of firearms.
Skill in the use of communications radio.
Skill in the use of modern office equipment such as the telephone, copier, computer terminal and related peripherals.
Skill in the safe operation of a light motor vehicle.
Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate clerical support staff.
Ability to plan and conduct in service training programs.
Ability to make decisions quickly in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, four years of experience in a law enforcement position in which the primary work assignment involved the execution of a variety of court orders including seizures and evictions, and one year of supervisory work experience in law enforcement.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Certified as a Peace Officer Standard Test (POST) graduate of a law enforcement school.
