GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Executive Director, Downtown Development District, does responsible administrative work assisting the Executive Director in the accomplishment of the goals of the Downtown Development District. Work involves project management, economic development, public relations, and general administrative duties. Work also involves the use of independent judgment and is reviewed through conferences and for desired results. Performs other work as requested.
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Prepares correspondence, memoranda, reports; develops long-term projects.
Contacts realtors, property owners; inspects buildings and properties; responds to inquiries and complaints whether by telephone, written correspondence, or in person.
Assists in new business development and location; coordinates project implementation; gathers information/data.
Schedules meetings; attends meetings.
Assists in the preparation of the district budget.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, rulings, and regulations regarding economic development.
Knowledge of resources available to assist in the redevelopment of an urban area.
Knowledge of real estate values.
Knowledge of governmental interrelationships and functions.
Knowledge of government budgetary procedures, policies, and practices.
Skill in the use of modern office equipment, such as, the telephone, copier, calculator.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to promote good public relations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to conduct research.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, planning, public administration, or a related field, supplemented by four years of progressively responsible work experience in the area of planning or development.
