GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of an employee of a higher classification, performs highly responsible administrative work in developing and administering market strategies designed to increase public acceptance of the Greater Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. Work involves serving as liaison with domestic and international airlines, travel agencies, corporate users, other airport facilities, professional airport organizations, federal agencies, and local, state, civic, and business leaders. Work also includes assisting the public relations consultant in planning and promoting effective ad campaigns to increase passenger usage at the airport. Work is performed independently and is reviewed through discussion and for results obtained. Performs other work as requested.
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Develops and administers strategic market plans designed to increase passenger usage at the Greater Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.
Establishes and strengthens associations and contacts with domestic and international airlines, travel agencies, corporate users, other airport facilities, professional airport organizations, federal agencies, and local, state, civic and business leaders.
Develops and administers service agreements with airlines and corporate users.
Analyzes fare comparisons, travel trends and other statistical travel reports comparing the Baton Rouge Airport with other airports; directs efforts in increasing the availability of competitive fares and increase passenger usage at the Baton Rouge Airport.
Monitors and ensures proper coverage of Airport Liability, Fire and Casualty Insurance with insurance carrier; ensures proper insurance coverage is maintained by airport tenants as required in lease agreement; ensures proper insurance coverage is maintained as required in construction contracts, and in engineering, architectural, professional services and project manager contracts.
Prepares various reports on progress of the marketing strategies; presents reports to the Director and the Airport Commission; prepares and analyzes market surveys, including feasibility studies.
Designs, writes, and publishes for the airport a quarterly newsletter, brochures, and various other publications.
Assists the public relations consultant in planning and promoting effective ad campaigns to increase public acceptance for the airport.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, sales and promotional negotiation, with the aviation, travel or tourism industry.
Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies or policies to increase passenger usage.
Ability to analyze and ensure proper insurance coverage is maintained for the airport, airport tenants, and various airport contracts.
Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment during sales and promotional negotiation with various agencies, governmental officials and the general public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with domestic and international airlines, travel agencies, other airport facilities, professional airport organizations, federal agencies, and local, state, civic and business leaders.
Ability to prepare, analyze and present various marketing and statistical information.
Ability to write logical, comprehensive and concise reports, correspondence and newsletters.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field, and two years of experience in developing and implementing marketing programs within the aviation, travel, or tourism industries.

For security reasons, as per TSA provision 1542; all applicant/employees of the Greater Baton Rouge Airport District who have access to restricted areas will be required to have a ten (10) year criminal background check to the extent allowable by the law.
