GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of a supervisor performs professional work that involves handling security desk at Advance Traffic Management/Emergency Operations Center (ATM/EOC) Building. The employee of this class is responsible for ensuring that all visitors and class attendees have badges and are escorted by host department personnel during visit to building. Work is performed with relative professional discretion and independence. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Scans Driver's License and completing of database information for printed badges. Assures proper information is provided on sign-in forms for clip on badges. Handles security desk at ATM/EOC Building during emergency activation. Ensuring that all emergency personnel are directed to the proper offices. Coordinates phone repairs, feature changes, and emergency communications equipment installation during times of emergency activation. Ensures that all class/meeting attendees are directed to the proper classroom. Receives all delivery of supplies and equipment for the various emergency communications divisions. Receives and sorts all mail for the various emergency communications divisions. Answers the City-Parish Switchboard, directing callers to the appropriate department within City-Parish Government during emergency and daily operations. Assist with daily clerical duties as needed by the Communications District.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and standard clerical techniques. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, procedures, organization, and functions. Knowledge of the various departments and agencies within the City-Parish government. Ability to maintain confidentiality of program, staff and client information. Ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and one year of experience in the operation of a security desk and/or PBX Switchboard.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
