GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of an employee of a higher classification, maintains or assists in the maintenance of a 95 + node Personal Computer Local Area Network (PC LAN) computer system and other airport related systems. These duties include but are not limited to installing, maintaining, and repairing the Access Control Security System, the Phone System infrastructure and electronics, the Terminal Lighting Control System network, the Audio/Video system throughout the airport as well as the Airport's LAN/MAN/WAN, Finger Print System, Flight Information System network and other related system networks. Work is reviewed through personal conferences and for results obtained. Performs other work as requested.
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Performs complex duties to various airport related networks.
Designs or revises forms, reports and databases.
Revises data entry procedures, detects errors in data entry or format.
Manage vendor supplied repairs and warranties.
Troubleshoots and repairs the Access Control Security System.
Teaches computer literacy class and specialized classes, designs teaching aids for classes.
Participates in meetings and prepares presentations.
Revises raw data for automation; corrects corrupted data files.
May repair personal computers and other network hardware.
Evaluates workload and capacity of computer systems to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing the LAN; evaluates new software and hardware.
Prepares written instructions for running program design or running reports.
Runs and traces cable.
Performs duties on the audio/video system.
Performs modifications to the phone system's infrastructure.
Modifies and maintains the airport's website.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of structured techniques in PC network administration.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of computer design and analysis.
General knowledge of electronic principles.
Ability to work in confined areas.
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
Ability to analyze procedures and systems and develop problem solving strategies.
Ability to respond to calls (after work hours) as needed.

Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science and one year of electronics/computer electronics experience.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

For security reasons, as per TSA provision 1542; all applicant/employees of the Greater Baton Rouge Airport District who have access to restricted areas will be required to have a ten (10) year criminal background check to the extent allowable by the law.
