GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under direction of department supervisor, supervises the activities and performance of a moderately sized unit of spray truck drivers. Plans and directs daily routine of staff, making visits to various zones to address special problems or to evaluate performance. Work is reviewed daily by supervisor through reports completed. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Assigns vehicles and zones for night drivers; conducts periodic meetings with employees; completes all paperwork to be submitted daily to supervisor. Assists in training new employees. Prepares and directs attention to mosquito and rodent control requests, addresses any special projects and problems which may arise. Hire and terminate new personnel as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of modern methods, procedures, techniques and equipment used in the control of rodents and insects. Knowledge of modern supervisory methods and practices. Skill in the safe operation of light equipment and small hand tools. Ability to prepare and accurately complete various forms and reports recording work completed by employees. Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing. Ability to plan, assign, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, supervisors, and the general public. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by four years of progressively responsible work experience in the pest control industry, and one year of experience in a supervisory position.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Possession of a valid commercial pesticide applicator's certification in category 8A-Mosquito Control: Applicator.
